Job Title- Manager- Partnership Development
The Proposal Writer Manager plays a crucial role in our organization by leading the development
and submission of high-quality proposals to secure funding for our projects. This position requires a
strategic thinker with exceptional writing skills and the ability to manage a team to meet tight
deadlines and deliver compelling proposals. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of
the development sector, donor requirements, and possess strong project management skill
Key Responsibilities:
1. Proposal Development:
o Lead the end-to-end process of proposal development, including researching
funding opportunities, coordinating inputs from technical and finance teams,
writing/editing proposal content, and ensuring compliance with donor guidelines.
o Develop proposal outlines, timelines, and manage the proposal review process to
ensure quality and submission deadlines are met.
2. Team Management:
o Supervise and mentor a team of proposal writers and coordinators, providing
guidance on effective proposal writing techniques, donor engagement strategies,
and fostering a collaborative team environment.
o Assign responsibilities, conduct regular performance evaluations, and support
professional development opportunities for team members.
3. Relationship Management:
o Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders to
understand their priorities, funding trends, and requirements.
o Collaborate with program managers, technical experts, and finance staff to gather
information and insights necessary for proposal development.
4. Knowledge Management:
o Develop and maintain a repository of past proposals, boilerplate language, success
stories, and other relevant materials for efficient proposal development.
o Stay updated on best practices, trends, and innovations in proposal writing within
the development sector.
5. Quality Assurance:
o Ensure that all proposals are well-written, technically sound, compliant with donor
requirements, and aligned with organizational strategies and priorities.
o Conduct thorough reviews and edits of proposal documents to improve clarity,
coherence, and persuasiveness.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Communications, Journalism, Public Policy,
or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum of 4 years of experience in proposal writing, preferably in the development sector.
Proven track record of successfully securing funding through proposal writing, with
experience in managing complex proposals from concept to submission.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines,
and work effectively under pressure.
Experience in managing a team, including staff development and performance management.
Familiarity with donor regulations, proposal formats, and requirements of major
institutional donors (e.g., USAID, DFID, EU, UN agencies).
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders in a multicultural
environment.
